Tips from the Divas...

The Ultimate Recyclers...

As "Ultimate Recyclers" and Known Dumpster Divers (Leigh!), we like to use what our clients already have as often as possible. There are occasions when there are pieces and accessories in place that they just don't love or that just no longer work.

What to do with those items?

Never fear... we have an idea! Plan a decorating swap party with friends. Have them bring some items that they no longer use in their homes. Their unused draperies could be the perfect solution in a bedroom where you need some light control. The print that they no longer use because they changed their color scheme might be perfect in your sister's guest bath. The dishes that they started housekeeping with and are tired of could fill in perfectly for your neighbor's college student. In addition, it's so much easier to part with items when you know a friend can use and enjoy them.

Environmentally "Green" Tips...

Did you know?  Americans could save more than 400,000 trees if each family bought a roll of recycled toilet paper--just once?  Recycled tissue products help protect ancient forests, clean water, and wildlife habitat.  It is easier on the Earth to make tissues from paper instead of trees. GREEN

Here we are in MARCH....the month of WINDS (hopefully winds of positive change!) and GREEN shamrocks and GOOD LUCK! We decided to highlight the color GREEN this month.

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises." Pedro Calderon de la Barca

Green occupies more space in the spectrum that is visible to the human eye than most colors and is the second favorite color (after blue) of those who will confess to having a favorite color. As a color that is dominating in nature, green is an ideal backdrop or neutral color for interior design uses. It is a color that can blend with all other colors as long as the shade is right.

Most greens are considered "cool colors" and traditional when in the pure "grass" and bluer family of greens. When they travel over to the "yellow", lime and chartreuse, side of the spectrum, they become "warmer" and a bit trendier. Whether cool or warm, green remains a popular color from early times!

GREEN symbolizes:

  • Nature & Ecology
  • Tranquility & Peace
  • Good Luck
  • Health & Harmony
  • Jealousy
  • Renewal & Self Control

It is no coincidence that operating room surgeons and staff usually wear green scrubs, for control and health. If you are a great gardener, you are said to have a green thumb, symbolizing healthy plants in nature. "Green rooms" are where guests wait before going onto a TV show, a place to relax and be peaceful.
